The movie received mixed reviews. Anushka played an Punjabi girl who was from middle class in a movie known as 'Band baaja baaraat.' She starred alongside Ranveer. The film was praised by critics and was widely regarded as a sleeper and a huge success. With Band Baaja Baaraat Anushka's three-film contract under Yash Raj Films banner was completed.
