Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on March 26th, 1991. She's an American singer-songwriter and the first artist signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. The label debuted her first EP titled Pho in October 2016, and she was able to gain recognition. The album that she released as her debut studio album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music on the internet in 2012 after she dropped her mixtape debut Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in 2013. The year 2014 saw her continue to share her music over the internet, including her self launched single Bound. On July 21 2015 she appeared on Omen's album Elephant Eyes with the track Sweat it Out. J. Cole asked her to work with him on Rihanna's remark. Later in the calendar, her songs was played throughout Dreamville. The news was released on December 8, that she had signed with Dreamville Records. Backseat was a track was written by her and Cozz on the album collaboratively titled Revenge of the Dreamers II. She released Pho, her debut album on the 21st of October in 2016. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change and also performed on The 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as the opening artist. In 2018, Ari Lennox guested on two tracks by EarthGang On Nothing but the Best, as well as Bas On Icarus. On July 16 2018 Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream from her debut album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanied music video on September 5. On the 9th of November, she released two additional singles: 40 Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. Then on the 13th of November two singles called One and Pedigree. One and pedigree. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby then made appearances as a guest on Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. She dropped this track as a single to promote her debut titled Creed II on 26 February 2019. The song, launched with a music video uploaded to YouTube 20 February 2019 has been watched over 3 million times in the first seven days. As a support act she performed with 6LACK during December 2018 on the From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
